The Community Foundation for Ireland made €1.7 million grants last year down from €2.2 million in 2010, partly due to a drop in private donations received.
The Foundation's grants came from donor advised funds from major companies and families based in Ireland including: The Farrelly Fund which made grants of €183,000; Ebay Foundation contributed €39,000; SAP Fund made grants of €75,000 and LFG Fund provided grants of €144,000.
